When people ask me to describe my personal style, I always get a little bit stuck. I definitely know what it isn’t: avant-garde, minimalist, conservative. The words “elegant” and “edgy” often apply, sometimes “preppy” is represented, “feminine” has its moments, as does “glamorous” and even “Bohemian.”

I tend to dress based on my mood and even my location. When I’m in Palm Springs, I favor Pop-y prints and Jonathan Adler-esque hues; in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (a stone’s throw from Washington, DC) it’s all about all-American classics with a twist. At home in NYC, I have rocker chick dalliances, high-fashion flirtations, and many shredded denim and cozy cashmere days. But, with these different fashion personas (all of which you will get to know as you visit Anchors & Sirens), there is always a consistent dash of the unexpected, the whimsical, the playful, and even the silly.

(To wit: today I broke out my Santa skull Vans – check out my Instagram feed to see a snap.)

This countdown-to-Christmas Look captures one of my mixing moments. The shredded denim flares, the preppy peacoat, the glam sunglasses and – the touch of whimsy – via my Eugenia Kim pom pom hat (an anniversary gift from my husband). Part Minnie Mouse, part KAWS creation, this cozy cap just brings it all together.
