I have been stalking these Stuart Weitzman MULETHING flats (below) for a few months, and after seeing the Chanel 2016/2017 Cruise Collection staged in Havana, Cuba this week — both the spectacle itself and the spectacular spectators on models — buying them is no longer a “maybe” but an emphatic “MUST.” And not because Karl Lagerfeld showed similar incarnations on his runway, but because it is abundantly clear that the mega menswear trend happening now and happening for fall will clearly continue into next spring, which means these boy-meets-girl mules will be more than a one-season wonder.
Rather than go for the full Gatsby glam look, I like the idea of dressing them down.
I plan to pair them with these wide leg cropped jeans I found in France and a white v-neck T-shirt (my current favorite is from American Giant: made in the USA, high-quality, great fit, great story, great price). The finishing touch will be either my new black leather motorcycle jacket or a black tailored blazer. Cuffed boyfriend jeans will also work, especially when paired with this oversized white shirt.
Missed out on the action? Watch the Chanel 2016/2017 Cruise Collection video. Thanks Karl!
